My Clinical Background

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed clinical psychologist and have been providing mental health services since 2014. I take a strengths-based, culturally sensitive approach, tailoring therapy to your unique needs. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals in many different seasons of life.

I have a background in community mental health and college counseling, working with diverse populations and have developed a specialization in working with adults, especially marginalized groups facing challenges related to immigration status, navigating the bicultural experience, addressing generational trauma and exploring acculturative stress. My experience includes: supporting concerns such as depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, trauma, emotional regulation, relationship issues, women’s issues, family conflict, faith-related concerns and young adulthood transitions.

I have served in various roles within the field of psychology. I currently work in higher education as a clinical supervisor in the training and development of future clinicians. I have taught undergraduate and graduate psychology courses, led multicultural seminars for trainees and provided mental health outreach services. Additionally, I have provided workshops on various topics to faith communities, aiming to reduce stigma around mental health and promote support within church settings, especially among church leaders.

My Story

My story begins in Central California as a daughter of immigrant parents from Mexico. I grew up in a mixed-status family, spending the early part of my childhood living in a farming community where members of my family were farm workers. This is a part of my heritage that I am very proud of.

When my family decided to move, I found myself adapting to a different kind of community in the Inland Empire. After graduating high school, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a higher education in the field of psychology as a first generation college student. Each one of the areas I lived in are a significant part of my life that I hold dear to my heart.

I am a wife and mother of a young child, navigating my professional identity while staying true to my values. I married into an immigrant Chinese family, blending our beautiful cultures as we raise our bicultural daughter. Experiencing these different cultures and seeing the journey of my immigrant family members have given me a unique perspective of the challenges immigrant communities face as well as the resiliency they carry within.

As a pastor’s daughter of a Spanish-speaking church, I have also experienced the unique pressures of church leadership life. It’s an experience that may be similar to others but is not often shared. My bicultural identity, faith and life story have deeply shaped my passions and guide the work I do today. I am excited to use my experience and knowledge to guide me in serving my community.
